how to get easy 40s hairstyles?
my friend has decided very last minute to have a fancy dress party tonight, i have decided to go as a lady from sort of wartime 1940s as i have a Vintage Dress that suites the era, problem is i need to do something with my hair, it is below shoulder length and i have basic styling equipment, including GHD straighteners, but no rollers, what is a quick and easy way to get the 1940s look?
If you can spend money: Run to your local drugstore (CVS, Rite Aid)
And buy a cheap curling iron. If you don’t have protectant product, buy a hair product that reads clearly that it helps protect your hair from damage while you use heat styling tools.
If you can’t do that, Take a shower. Wash your hair, and afterwards, take small sections (probably about 1/2 inch to 1 inch sections) and twist them around a pencil or your finger. Wrap them into little coils. Pin the little coils to your head with bobby pins.
Then, blow dry the little coils a little bit. Wait until you know they are dry and take them out. You should have ringlets.
A warning: The curls will not come out perfect. You will have to use volumizing curling product.
If you can use a curling iron, first use the heat product. Make sure your flat iron is 1 1/2 inch or more. For a 40′s hair style you will need barrel curls, and if your hair is long, you will have to curl it more tightly. Once you have curled your hair, brush your bangs to the side, and pin the bangless (the side that is opposite your bangs) side back.
You will have a 40′s esque hair do. You may have to pin your hair up a little bit more if you have long hair.
